Registration

In order to activate your library, you need to register the CFX Concert Grand to your MakeMusic account. If you're a new MakeMusic customer, create your account first.

6. Type your serial number as it appears in your confirmation email, and then click Next. Your registration completes, and your activation keycard appears.

Once you've installed the Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Concert Grand, use the keycard to activate the library.

Installation

Everything you need to install the CFX Concert Grand is stored on the USB flash drive included with your purchase. The USB flash drive is not a form of copy protection, and does not need to remain plugged in after you've successfully completed the installation. Please take note of the system requirements before installing.

The following table lists the computer and hardware requirements for using the Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Concert Grand. You can use the CFX Concert Grand on most any modern personal computer that meets the specifications listed below. The specifications provide the minimum standards.

If you are using the Garritan Abbey Road Studios CFX Concert Grand within a host music program (such as a notation program, DAW, and/or sequencing program), there may be additional resource requirements. Please also observe the system requirements of your host application, if applicable. The demands of any additional processing software (including the sequencer, audio and effects processors, other plug-ins, and so on) can affect functionality.

1. Insert the USB flash drive into an available USB port on your computer.
2. From the Start menu, choose Computer.
3. Double-click the device named CFX Grand.
4. Double-click Install CFX Concert Grand for Windows.exe to start the setup wizard.

   If asked if you want to run this file, click Run.

5. Choose your installation language and then click OK. The setup wizard appears.
6. Click Next. The License Agreement appears.
7. Review the license, click I accept the agreement, and then click Next. CFX Concert Grand Revision History appears.
8. Review the information, and then click Next. The Select Destination Location screen appears.
9. Choose where the CFX Concert Grand software will be installed, and then click Next.

   Note that the location of the samples is chosen in a later step.

10. Select the plug-ins and samples you want to install. Select either a Full Samples Installation or a Compact Samples Installation.

11. After you've made your selections, click Next. If selected for installation, the Select your VST directory screen for the 64-bit VST plug-in appears.

9. In CFX Plug-ins, select the plug-ins you want to install.

11. After you've made your selections, click Continue. Installation details appear.
12. Review your install location. If you need to change it, click Change Install Location.
13. Click Install.
14. Type your Macintosh user account password and then click Install Software.
15. Choose the location of the samples, and then click Open.
16. Once the installation has completed, click Close.

After installation, activate your library.

Activation

After you've installed and registered the CFX Concert Grand, activate the library for use on your computer. Unless activation is completed with your encrypted, personalized keycard, the CFX Concert Grand will run in demo mode. In demo mode, sound is disabled after five minutes, and saving presets is disabled.

1. Go to www.garritan.com, and then click the Support tab. The Garritan support page appears.
2. Click the Generate Key Card button. The log in page appears.
3. Log in to your MakeMusic account. Your My Account > My Software page appears. If you don't have an account, create your account and register your software.
4. Find your Garritan CFX Concert Grand registration, and then click Generate Keycard. Your activation keycard appears in a drop-down.
5. Right-click the keycard, select Save Image As, and then save the keycard PNG file to your desktop.
6. Open the standalone player.
7. Drag the keycard PNG icon from your desktop onto the standalone player. A message will appear indicating that the library has been successfully activated.

   If your computer does not have Internet access, you can save your keycard PNG to a flash drive from a computer that does have Internet access, and then transfer it to your computer.

Step 1: Double-Click the File

Before you try any other ways to open CFX files, start by double-clicking the file icon. The file should open automatically. If it doesn’t open, or you see an error message, move on to Step 2.

Step 2: Choose the Right Program

There are many different programs you can use to open CFX files. If the file doesn’t open when you double-click it, you may not have one of these programs on your computer. Try installing the most common programs associated with CFX files, like Creative DSP File, Flow-Cal File, or Casio Algebra FX 2.0 Add-in. If none of these programs work, move to Step 3.

Step 3: Figure Out the File Type

The file type can give you a clue as to which programs can open your CFX file. Files with the CFX extension are usually Uncommon Files. If you’re not sure what the file type is, follow the steps below to find it:

1. Right-click the file’s icon
2. Click “Properties”
3. Find the file type listed under “Type of File”

Using a Mac:

Step 5: Download a Universal File Viewer

If you have completed Steps 1 through 4 and you still can’t open your CFX file, it’s time to try a universal file viewer like File Magic (Download). A universal file viewer is a program you can use to open hundreds of different types of files (depending on the format).
